Ramsons Handicrafts

The House of Ramsons: Two Legacies, One Destination

Located amidst the vibrant greenery of Mysuru, just opposite the iconic Mysuru Zoo, the Ramsons House is a premier cultural landmark. Since 1970, we have served as a bridge between the glorious Indian handicrafts and the modern art lover. Today, we are proud to house two spaces which are diligently curated so as to cater to special needs of the thoughtful connoisseur.

I. Ramsons Handicrafts

(Est. 1970)

The Flagship Emporium of Master Artistry

Ramsons Handicrafts is dedicated to the preservation of India’s most prestigious art forms. As the flagship store, it curates high-end artifacts that speak of royal heritage and masterful craftsmanship.

  • Traditional Mysore Paintings: We are a primary custodian of the classical Mysore-style painting, known for its intricate gesso (gold leaf) work. Our collection is supported by the Ramsingh Museum of Mysuru Paintings, providing authentic reference guides and literature.
  • Masterful Woodcrafts: Explore an extensive collection of Sandalwood and Rosewood carvings. From fine-detailed divine idols to massive rosewood inlay architectural pieces, our woodcraft is recognized for its lifelike precision.
  • Indigenous Board Games: Through our Kreedaa Kaushalya initiative, we have revived about 27 traditional board games like Chauka Bara and Pagade, in the media of traditional crafts, ensuring these ancient pastimes are not lost to history.
  • Handlooms & Textiles: A curated selection of traditional sarees and textiles that reflect the historic weaves and local culture of the Mysuru region.

II. Ramsons Bombe Mane

(Est. 2005)

The World of Innocent Wonder & Tradition

"Bombe Mane" (The House of Dolls) is a unique initiative by the Ramsons. It was born from the ancient Mysuru tradition of Bombe Habba (the festival of dolls during Dasara), where households create magical dioramas on tiered altars.

  • The Largest Doll Collection in Karnataka: Bombe Mane features thousands of dolls handcrafted by artisans from over 12 states across India. Materials include clay, wood, terracotta, ceramic, and the paper-mâché dolls.
  • Annual Thematic Displays: Every year, Bombe Mane unveils a new, massive thematic display that is not for sale, such as the Ratha Yatra of Puri or historical tributes to Shivaji Maharaj, attracting visitors from all over the world.
  • Heritage Collectibles: From traditional Pattada Gombe (King and Queen dolls) to modern educational toys, every piece is designed to celebrate the spirit of childhood and tradition.

Why Visit Us?

  • A Unified Experience: By bringing both businesses together, we offer a complete look at Indian culture—from the high-art of the Royal Court to the intimate folk traditions of the Indian home.
  • Authenticity Guaranteed: Every item is a genuine representation of local artistry and folklore, curated with over 50 years of expertise.
  • Preserving the Past: Your visit not only supports the indigenous craft forms to thrive, since we are dedicated to identifying, promoting, and supporting traditional Indian crafts.
