Navakankari game + Mysuru Chitra Siri book 1 & 2

Grew up in Mysore, been in Mumbai twelve years. Ordered these two together. Game colour was slightly different from the photo but nicer in person — hand-made, so that's expected. Both are sitting in my flat now. Makes it feel a little less like a generic Mumbai apartment

Tulasi Vrunda Vihara Folio

Got this for my prayer room. The prints are detailed and the colours are vivid without being overdone. My sister came over, saw them, and ordered her own set before leaving. Walked past the Ramsons store in Mysore so many times without buying the folios. Glad I finally did it online.

Mysuru Rekha Chitra Siri Vol. 1 & 2 — RG Singh's store, RG Singh's book

Anyone who's been to Ramsons Handicrafts near the zoo knows it's not just a shop. The book is the same — you can tell it wasn't made to sell, it was made because it needed to exist. Raghu's knowledge of Mysore painting comes through on every page. Worth it even if you're not an art person.

Mysore Palace book — ₹300 for this?

Picked this up without thinking much. Read it the same evening. Showed it to my husband. He read it next. We've lent it to two people and had to ask for it back. At that price it's almost embarrassing how good it is. Ordered more books.

Mysuru Chitra Kovida — bought it for a painter friend

My friend paints in the Mysore style. Bought her this for her birthday — it's about BP Ramakrishna, one of the senior living artists still working in the tradition. She called the next morning, said she'd stayed up finishing it. Most art books don't go into process and practice the way this one does. Glad it exists.

Mysuru Rekha Chitra Siri Vol. 1 & 2

I teach art history and had been looking for proper reference material on Mysore painting for a while. These are the most useful books I've found. You can tell RG Singh and Raghu know this tradition deeply — not just as collectors but as people who've lived inside it. Both volumes are on my students' reading list this semester.

Vintage Mysore Folio — been looking for this for years

Saw Vintage Mysore paintings at the palace museum as a student. Spent years after that trying to find decent prints. Found these folios and ordered immediately. Arrived well packed, no damage. They're on my wall now.

Folio Sets — clients actually called me after

Needed something different for Diwali corporate gifting. Ordered the folio sets for fifteen clients. Got calls from four of them asking where I found it. One said it was the best Diwali gift he'd received in a long time. That was enough for me.

Chauka Bara Kalamkari

Honestly ordered this not knowing what to expect. The colour was different from the photo — darker, more indigo. Took me a second but then I actually preferred it. My kids have been asking to play every night which is more than I can say for any other game we own. Good quality, came packed well.

Goats and Tigers — called before ordering

The colours vary per piece so I wasn't sure which one to pick. Called them up, spoke to someone who actually listened and helped me decide. Wasn't pushy at all. The board arrived exactly as suggested and my husband who said "I won't play this" has now made it a Sunday rule.

Snake and Ladder Kalamkari

Bought this as a game but it's on my wall now. Colour was different from the website, warmer tones, but it looked better in person anyway. Hand-painted pieces will vary, that's the whole point. People ask about it every time they visit.

Pagaday Silk Zari — cousins took it back to the US

Bought this for my cousins visiting from abroad. They had never heard of the game. We played it one evening and they wouldn't stop. When they were leaving they specifically asked me where to order another. Usually shop at Ramsons near the zoo but ordering online was much easier this time.

Chauka Bara Lambani — works better than any lesson

Got this for my school's after-school programme. Kids touched the fabric before even asking what the game was. We had to explain the rules twice because they were distracted by how it looked. Three parents separately asked me where I bought it. That's all I'll say.

Navadurga Folio — gave it to my mother

I'd been to the Ramsons store near the zoo years ago — one of those places you don't forget. Found the online store recently and ordered this for my mother's Navaratri. She went quiet when she opened it and looked at each print slowly. RG Singh and Raghu's eye for what matters in this art — it shows.

Saptamatruka Folio — Bombe Mane regular, now ordering online

Been going to Ramsons Bombe Mane in Nazarbad for years. Always meant to buy the folios but never did. Someone there finally told me about the website. Ordered Saptamatruka that night. Three prints are now framed in my room. Should have done this much earlier.
