DESCRIPTION

Dash Guti — meaning Ten Stones — is a traditional Indian war board game of pure strategy, played by 2 players with no dice and no chance. Each player commands an army of 10 soldiers, arrayed face to face on opposite sides of the board from the very first move. The objective is total victory: eliminate every last one of your opponent's soldiers.

Soldiers move one step at a time along the lines of the board, but the game's defining tension comes from the jump — when a soldier faces a lone opponent with an open point behind them, it leaps over and removes them from the board. More dangerously, a single soldier can chain multiple captures in one turn, cutting through an entire flank if the positions allow. One moment of inattention, one badly placed soldier, and a chain reaction can unravel an entire army in a single devastating turn.

This board game is woven in the Solapur Dhurrie tradition — the flatweave cotton craft of Maharashtra renowned for its geometric boldness and tactile durability. The playing grid takes its distinctive bow-tie or hourglass form — two mirrored wings of triangular and rectangular fields converging at a central point — rendered entirely in the tight, raised looping threadwork characteristic of this weave. A whip-stitch border frames the playing field cleanly, and the broad woven outer border gives the board a firm, satisfying weight in the hands.

The player who captures all ten of their opponent's soldiers wins. Each set includes the game board and 10 counters per player (20 total). A wonderful gift for strategy game enthusiasts, families, and collectors of traditional Indian craft.

Part of Ramsons Kreedaa Kaushalya — traditional Indian board games researched, revived, and handcrafted in Mysore since 1970.

🤲 Because this is a 100% handmade product, every piece is one of a kind. The stitching, thread colour, and pawns may vary slightly from what you see in the images — and that's exactly what makes yours truly unique. No two boards are ever exactly alike; each carries the individual touch of the artisan who made it.
